Brendan completed his clinical training at the University of Newcastle. He has previous experience working in public health and non-government settings helping people with a range of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders and relationship difficulties. Although Brendan has experience with a range of psychological issues, his particular expertise lies in assisting individuals who have experienced traumatic events, and/or who may have diagnoses of PTSD or Complex-PTSD. His main therapeutic modalities include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and exposure based approaches. Brendan is an engaged and friendly clinician who enjoys working with clients at their own pace and helping them achieve their goals.

We work with adults and older adolescents from diverse groups presenting with issues such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and trauma.

While we enjoy working clinically with all groups and have experience in various presentations, we have particular interest and expertise in:

  • Working with people affected by Trauma including complex trauma backgrounds, religious trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

    • Please note: If you are acutely suicidal and have a suicide plan, we will not be able to take your referral as a telehealth private practice is not well equipped to manage acutely suicidal clients.

  • Those trying to manage difficult relationships and set boundaries with high-conflict personalities (such as with people who have narcissistic traits), survivors of narcissistic abuse, and “caretaker” personalities

  • Grief, loss, bereavement, separation

  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

  • People from the LGBTQIA+ community

  • Sexual difficulties and dysfunction

We prioritise a strengths-based, emotion-focused, and psychodynamic approach when working with clients. We draw primarily on techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Treatment is tailored to you and your needs.
